St. Mary Catholic School in Elora's Drives Support CWFB

The St. Mary Catholic School in Elora school community has rallied together to support the local Centre Wellington Food Bank this Christmas with a mitten tree and gift card drive.

In lieu of a toy drive this year, the annual drive – in its 20th year at St. Mary Catholic School in Elora, shifted to collecting gift cards from local businesses. The gift card drive encouraged families to donate cards from Brighten Up in Fergus and Magic Pebble Books in Elora, among the other locations, raising $900 ahead of the December 1 deadline.

“We are honoured to be part of such a kind and generous community,” shared Justin Di Loreto, principal of St. Mary Catholic School in Elora.

Operating until December 13, the mitten tree has been generously decorated with new and gently used mittens of all sizes.

“St. Mary Elora is a school community that cares. Our students, staff and parents value the importance of giving back to the community that they live in,” he said. “Helping those in need is always a good thing.”

If you are interested in contributing to the mitten drive, you can drop off your new or gently used mittens to the mitten tree in the front hallway at St. Mary Catholic School in Elora up until December 13. Donations will be delivered to the Centre Wellington Food Bank following the conclusion of the drive.
