Canadian Mental Health Week

This year’s Mental Health Week is all about empathy! When times are tough, we need to be there for each other. We need to practice empathy.

Throughout the week, CMHA Waterloo Wellington will be offering a number of webinars you can tune into:

Building Resilience (May 2 @ 3p.m.): Resilience is our ability to adapt and bounce back when things don’t go as planned and life knocks us down. Resilient people don’t dwell on failures; they acknowledge the situation, learn from their mistakes, and then move forward. Resilience is a process, not a personality trait. We can all learn to strengthen our existing skills and develop a resilient mindset and attitude. Join us for this one hour webinar to look at tips and strategies to build your bounce back factor.

Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace (May 3 @ 12:30 p.m.): Explore the top 5 reasons why employers need to invest and support employee mental health and well-being. Participants will leave with tips, tools, and resources to support the development of or add to a robust workplace plan.

Mental Health Week Edition: Finding the Balance (May 3 @ 7 p.m.): Join community healthcare leader Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik, family doctor and founder, ARCH Clinic Waterloo and Wellington, and mental health expert Helen Fishburn, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington, for this monthly video talk series.
Moderated by Marva Wisdom, Senior Leadership & Equity Practitioner.
This is a free event, but donations are gladly accepted. Donations will be directed to Bracelet of Hope.
The next Finding the Balance webinar will be a Special Mental Health Week Edition on Tuesday May 3rd at 7pm. Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik, and Helen Fishburn, CEO CMHA WW will sit down with Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, WDG Public Health Unit.

Physical Health for Mental Health (May 4 @ 12 p.m.): Mental health and physical health go hand in hand when it comes to our level of overall wellness. Good mental health is not merely the absence of an illness or diagnosis. In this webinar, we will discuss the positive impact that physical health can have on our mental health. We will explore more into how becoming more active, eating a healthy diet, having a proper night’s sleep, how daily routines and goals, and more, play an important role in building mental wellness and resilience. A healthy physical self contributes greatly to all aspects of one’s life. Register here:

You will learn how to be aware of your own mental health but also those around. Join us to feel more confident in your knowledge of Mental Health.

The Value of Lived Experience (May 5 @ 2 p.m.): This webinar will explore the value of lived experience wisdom can bring to services, systems, and individuals in their wellbeing journeys. The webinar will discuss what lived experience means in mental health and addiction contexts, how historical and current mental health and/or addiction lived experience driven movements are transforming services and systems, and how practitioners, family, and individuals can embrace lived expertise as a part of recovery.
